Subject to Regularization (STR Visa)
An STR visa is a temporary work permit issued to expatriates who have been offered employment by
Nigerian companies or organizations. It is valid for 90 days and can be extended for up to 2 years,
subject to the regularization of the expatriate’s immigration status.
Resident Permit (CERPAC):
A CERPAC is a document that allows foreigners to reside and work legally in Nigeria for a specified
period. It is issued to expatriates who have obtained a valid work permit and are employed by Nigerian
companies or organizations.
Renewal of CERPAC:
The renewal of a CERPAC is necessary when the original permit has expired or is about to expire. It is the
process of extending the validity of a CERPAC for a specified period.
Temporary Work Permit (TWP):
A TWP is a permit that allows expatriates to work in Nigeria on a temporary basis. It is issued for a
maximum of 90 days and is non-renewable.
Business Visa:
A business visa is a document that allows foreigners to enter Nigeria for the purpose of engaging in

Extension of Visa:

Visa-on-Arrival:
A visa-on-arrival is a document that allows foreigners to obtain a visa upon arrival at a Nigerian port of
entry. It is issued to individuals who did not have the opportunity to apply for a visa before their trip to
Nigeria.
Permission to Land:
Permission to land is a document that allows crew members of foreign shipping liners or airlines to enter

Change of Employer:

Filing of mandatory monthly immigration returns:
This refers to the requirement for companies or organizations employing expatriates in Nigeria to
submit monthly immigration returns to the Nigerian Immigration Service. The returns contain
information on the expatriates’ immigration status and activities while in Nigeria.
